Yep, that is a quote by me. I find the quote above to be true more and more each day, not so much for me, but for some of the people I know. And it isn't just about weight, it is about life as a whole. If you are not happy with you, who you are, your inner "you", you will not be happy with ______________ (put whatever in there: weight, height, relationships, whatever).
You don't have to be thin or even healthy to be happy. You don't have to be rich. You don't have to be popular. You just have to love "you!"
I know that sounds like a weird thing to say, but it really is the truth. I think I've written about this before, but it just struck me again that until we can accept ourselves as we are and care for ourselves, we will NOT be happy.
Not being happy can cause a lot of problems in life. It can lead to depression, it can lead to physical problems, mental problems, all kinds of problems. You don't have to be self-centered to love yourself. You just have to realize that you are not your weight (or your height or your relationship or whatever). Even though those things are a part of you, they are not the totality of you.
I used to really worry about what other people thought of me. I would fret and become physically sick because I was so worried about what other people thought. Then one day it just occurred to me that it really doesn't matter what others think of me, what matters is what I think of myself. Until I could look in the mirror and say, "I love you," then I couldn't let what others thought no longer bother me!
I'm not completely immune to fretting over what others might or might not think about me, but I am a lot further along than I used to be. I realize that I don't need other people's approval. What I need is my own approval.
You do, too. And guess what? You deserve your approval!
Until next time, be good to yourself and others!
