City of Clarissa

The city of Clarissa is located in Todd County in Central Minnesota. A small town with a population of 609 (2000 Census), Clarissa is 125 miles NW of Minneapolis/St. Paul and 165 miles SW from Duluth.

Clarissa has several major employers/industries.

The Central Todd County Care Center, which provides quality nursing care for the elderly and disabled, employs 100 people.

Glenmac, Inc. across from the Care Center on Highway 71 and produces power landscape rakes employs 14.

Another major employer is Central Ag Services (formerly Agri-Valley Farm Center) which employs 10 at the Clarissa plant which produces agriculture products.

Battle Lake Outdoors a sports equipment manufacturer on Main Street in Clarissa employs 11 people.

Jon & Rita's Family Foods, Clarissa's grocery store, also employs 11 people.

The Independent News Herald employs nine at the office and several correspondents who cover area news.

 Throughout the years Clarissa has seen many changes in industry, the school system and in the agriculture business.
