Santa visits Verndale

The community was treated to a pancake breakfast, complete with Christmas music and a chance to sit upon Santa’s knee last Saturday morning at the school. The Lions Club, the school and community members collaborated together to bring back Santa day in town this year. Bob Hessling and Dick Johnson provided ambience playing a variety of Christmas tunes during the two hour event. Pictured: Taylor Johnson animatedly talked with Santa discussing what she might want to find under her tree this year. Bahls injured in tractor accident

Last Friday morning, Roger Bahls, co-owner of Aldrich Tractor, was injured at the business and later airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. According to co-owner Ken Broker, he was outside alone at the time the accident occurred and that the staff wasn’t aware that he was out there.
Bahls was unloading a tractor, and Broker speculates that he must have slipped off the back end of the fifth wheel trailer and then the tractor rolled over him. Bahls was able to pull out his cell phone and call inside the building for help following the accident.
His co-workers were able to transport him to Tri-County Hospital and then he was sent on to HCMC. Bahls had surgery to insert a steel plate in the broken portion of his pelvis.
According to Broker, he has been told that he will make a full recovery.

Arson suspected in wildlife fire

According to a report from the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office, the sheriff’s office responded to a report of a grass fire in Section 32 of Leaf River Township, north of Wadena, on Friday, December 2.
Upon the deputy’s arrival the fire had spread from the grasses and was in the pine trees on the property. The fire was extinguished by the fire department before it was able to reach a house and outbuilding of rural Wadena.
The fire is under investigation and it is believed was intentionally set with the use of fireworks. A dark colored four door car was seen in the area just before the smoke and flames were reported to authorities.
Anyone with information or may have seen something can contact the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office at 218-631-7600.

WEATHER
  Verndale, Minnesota, weather forecast

This is Baby, she is a three year old minature pomeranian. Her owners are Cal and Cindy Wolf of Eagle Bend. Baby is "spoiled". She loves to ride motorcycle with Cal. She gets mad when she can not go with him, she lets him know when he returns. She does most of the charity rides. She also loves to sit in the window of the house and keep people in line that are to close the her property line. She is a big part of our family. Thanks for letting us share her story.
