Herbert Johnson

Funeral services for Herbert Milton Johnson, 88, of Hewitt and formerly of rural Aldrich, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, at the Balsamlund Lutheran Church, rural Aldrich, with Pastor Del Moen presiding. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Herb passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.
Herb was born on July 9, 1923 to Fred J. and Ida Evelyn (Westberg) Johnson at their home in Bartlett Township. He graduated high school and spent his lifetime in Todd County as a dairy farmer. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Hewitt Senior Center. He was also an active member of Balsamlund Lutheran Church as a member of the church board and cemetery board. He enjoyed reading the newspaper and playing cards, especially at the family Christmas gatherings, reunions and picnics.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Ida Johnson; sister Ethel Klebs; nephews Jon W. Johnson and Dayle Klebs; and niece Patsy Klebs.
He is survived by his brother Rodney (Janet) Johnson of Aldrich; 10 nieces and nephews; and many friends. He is also survived by his caregivers for the past 14 years Juanita and Rick Mitchell; their sons Luke (Kellie) and Michael; grandchildren Taylor and Cameron, who always called Herb “Grandpa”; and the staff at Peaceful Valley Home in Hewitt: Martina Hendrickson, Jackie Allen and Carol Pugsley.
Pallbearers will be Darwin Johnson, Gary Bern, Craig Jasmer, Duane and Daniel Klebs and Luke Mitchell.
Interment will be in the Balsamlund Lutheran Cemetery, rural Aldrich.
