August 29, 2007 Obituary Notices for the Week of August 29, 2007 Arnold Sibert Funeral services will be held for Arnold Edgar Sibert, 70, of Hewitt, on Thursday, August 30 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Wrightstown with Reverend Larry Hager presiding. Arnold passed away at his home on Saturday, August 25 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Arnold was born on June 20, 1937 at the home of his parents, Orey and Clara (Dilly) Sibert, in Oak Valley Township. He graduated from Bertha High School. He was united in marriage with Luana Alice Taylor on July 12, 1958 at the Community Congregational Church in New Brighton. Arnold honorably served his country in the United States Army from September 20, 1960 until May 1, 1962. He and Luana returned to Oak Valley Township where he farmed for 37 years and in his retirement hehelped his sons for the past 8 years and has always served as their advisor. He was a member of the Wrightstown United Methodist Church, serving for a time as treasurer, the Wadena Elks and the Todd County DHIA. He received numerous production and quality awards and in the mid 1980s, the DHIA named his herd #2 in the state. Arnold enjoyed farming and was often heard saying that it was as much his hobby as his job. He also enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He liked playing cards and taking family vacations including the time spent at the cabin on Leaf Lake. Any chance he could, he'd try to do something with his boys. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orey and Clara; and nephew, Wade Sibert. He is survived by his wife, Luana; mother-in-law, Thelma Taylor; sons ,Duane Orey (Ellen) Sibert of Hewitt, Scott Rolland Sibert of Hewitt and Brett Arnold (Jenny) Sibert of Flensburg; seven grandchildren; brothers, David (Shirley) Sibert of Henning, Richard "Dick" (Karen) Sibert of Hewitt; and brother-in-law Lanny (Shirley) Taylor of Henning; sister-in-law, Sharon (Frank) Welshan of Bertha; as well as six nieces and six nephews. Honorary pallbearers are Glen Bartels and Arnold's grandchildren: Amber McGrath, Danielle Tarnowski, Christopher Sibert, Nichole Hamann, Tyler Howard, Patrick Sibert and Jeff Webb. Pallbearers are Rick Finn, Lannie Finn, Kevin Sibert, Chad Sibert, Calvin Sibert and Brad Sibert. Military Honors are provided by the William Larson American Legion Post 366 of Bertha. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Domian-Anderson Funeral Home in Bertha and from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services on Thursday at the church. Interment is in the Oak Valley Cemetery at rural Hewitt. |
