December 5, 2007 Obituary Notices for the Week of December 5, 2007 Orrin Lovelace Funeral services for Orrin Lovelace, age 70, of Bertha, were held on Friday, November 30, 2007 at the New Life Church of God in Bertha with Reverend Mark Brown presiding. Orrin passed away with his family members at his side on Monday, November 26, at the Lakewood Systems Hospital in Staples after a courageous battle with cancer. Orrin Eugene Lovelace was born on December 27, 1936 at the Theil Hospital in Bertha to Alfred and Edna (Young) Lovelace of Verndale. He served his country as a member of the National Guard from 1954 until 1965. On October 20, 1956, Orrin was united in marriage with MaryAnn Froehlich of Hewitt at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hewitt. They lived in Minneapolis and Fridley where he worked road construction. He then went to Dunwoody to learn sheet metal, heating and plumbing. He continued to work in Minneapolis until 1972, when they bought the hardware store in Bertha and a farm just south of the Bertha city limits, where the "Round Barn" is located. They sold the business and retired in 1999. Orrin was an active member of the Bertha Lions and the Bertha Commercial Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gambling and farming. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Orrin was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Edna Lovelace. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, MaryAnn; daughters Carol (Bruce) Wiese of Nisswa, Joan (Peter) Wallner of Bertha and Kathy (Loren) Buchholz of Deer Creek; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brothers Dale (Arliss) Lovelace of Verndale and Dick (Emily) Lovelace of Amery, WI; uncle Bud (Della) Young of Mesa, AZ; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Honorary pallbearers were Duane Kneisl, Doug Dean, Dale Lovelace, Dick Lovelace, Joe Wegleitner, Dick Anderson and Orrin's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Steve Kneisl, Mike Kneisl, Jeron Buchholz, Anthony Wiese, Jonathan Wiese and Paul Rach. Military honors for Orrin Lovelace were provided by Company D, 2136 CAB, Minnesota National Guard of Wadena assisted by the Elmer Goche Post 3922, Veteran's of Foreign Wars of Wadena. Interment will be in the Mount Nebo Cemetery located in Stowe Prairie Township at a later date. Nancy Imes Funeral services were held forNancy Imes, age 67 of Mankato, formerly of the Wood Lake area, on Friday, November 30 at Rock Valle Lutheran Church in rural Echo. Nancy passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Nancy Ruth Strand Imes was born on October 28, 1940 at her parent's home in Clarissa, the daughter of Oscar and Beatrice Strand. She was baptized and confirmed at the Clarissa Methodist Church. She graduated from the Clarissa High School in 1958 and from the Glenwood Hills School of Practical Nursing of Golden Valley in 1959. She worked at the Glenwood Hills Hospital, NW bell Telephone Company and at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis. On June 2, 1962, she married Keith S. Imes of Wood Lake at the Clarissa Methodist church. The couple lived on a farm near Wood Lake before settling on their farm in Sioux Agency Township, where they lived until Keith's death on February 9, 1995. She was active in PTA, Music Mothers and a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher and served a term as Vice President of the Rock Valle Ladies Aid. She worked at the Granite Falls School in 1973-1974 and at the Granite Falls Hospital from 1985-1989. Nancy was the American/Rock Valle church Secretary from 1989-1995. She loved to crochet and made many baby and adult afghans and enjoyed doing cross-stitch. Nancy loved to fish in the summer and winter and enjoyed watching professional football. Nancy moved to Mankato in October of 1995 and worked at Mankato State University for almost 5 years before retiring in August of 2000. She worked as a volunteer in the surgery lounge at the ISJ Hospital for a year and then worked as a volunteer at the Hospice Office in Mankato. She was a member of the Hilltop United Methodist church of Mankato. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar (1976) and Beatrice (1982), four brothers: Gordon and Glen (died in infancy), Roland (1999), Melvin (2000) and one sister Adelle (1974); two nephews: Steven Strand and Dan Duda and husband Keith (1995). Nancy is survived by her son Kevin of Hastings; one sister Elinor (Lloyd) Duda of Brainerd; one brother Glenne (Elaine) Strand of Menomonie, WI. She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Carolyn, Yvonne, Annette, Lila, Craig, Rachel, Ross, Gary, Gail, Carrie, Jean, Connie, Erik and Steig; and many great nieces and great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Interment was in the Rock Valle Cemetery. |
