Pesta, age 71, of Clarissa, was injured in a one-vehicle accident on her way home from Wadena on Highway 71 on Friday, November 9 at 3:54 p.m. Pesta was southbound when her vehicle, a 1997 Buick Park Avenue, left the roadway and launched over Wadena County Road 1 approximately three miles from Wadena according to a Minnesota State Patrol report. Her niece, Barb Gamache of Clarissa, said that Pesta is suffering from a severe back injury. She said they were not planning on doing surgery at this time, but Pesta will be fitted for a hard shell brace on Monday, November 12. According to Gamache, Pesta's husband, Ken, said that if everything goes well with the brace she may be able to come home as soon as this weekend.
