BHV wrestling stays tough
by Coach Mike Barthel

Jake Braaten had three wins during the quadrangular against CAC-GB, Osakis and Barnsville before the holiday break.

The Raiders wrestlers had a busy week before the Christmas break with a quadrangular against CACGB, Osakis and Barnesville on December 18 and a dual against Perham on December 21. In the quad, the Raiders beat CACGB 55-21, Osakis 35-30, and in the final dual, Barnesville 51-21. It was nice to see the wrestlers really step up against some tough competition and come out on top. Records from the quad are: Kody Graba, 2-1; Raphael Lopez, 1-2; Ethan Kern 3-0; Zak Lambert, 3-0; Colby Schmidt, 0-1; Nathan Wiese, 1-2; Trent Bertram, 2-1; Dakota Aeling 0-2; Jake Braaten, 3-0; Sam Moenkedick, 3-0; Wade Moenkedick, 3-0; Amos Schmidt, 3-0; Trent Peterson, 0-2; Jon Kohlhase, 2-1; Collin Turchin, 1-0.
It was Alumni Night at the Perham meet for BHV and it was nice to see many alumni showing up to support the Raiders. Perham is currently ranked first in class AA and the Raiders are the "lean and mean" in class A.

The Raiders stayed tough and wrestled well throughout the dual although the final score was 47-18 in favor of Perham.
In the first action of the new year the Raiders went to Wadena to face Pelican Rapids and Wadena-Deer Creek in a triangular. The Raiders faced Pelican Rapids first and ran away with the dual by a score of 51-21. They were then looking ready to get back at WDC from defeats earlier in the season, but the Wolverines had some big victories and ended up pulling out the dual 48-33.
The Raiders are hosting OTC in Verndale at Parent's Night on January 10 and then will travel to Minnewaska for a dual tournament on January 12.
