January 9, 2008 Lady Rebels tame Bulldogs by Coach Don Kassube For the second time in as many games, the Lady Rebels had to face the Bulldogs, this time in Swanville. The first match was for third place in the Verndale Holiday Tournament with the Rebels winning by 40 points. This time it was a key road conference game. Swanville came out inspired and played tough in the first half only trailing 35-23 at the halftime break. Eagle Valley struggled from the field, and they did not play very aggressive on the defensive side. After some adjustments in the locker room, the Rebels played much more inspired ball and coasted to a 76-38 victory. Sierra Benning continues to play well off the Rebels bench scoring 24 points on 11 for 15 shooting. Missy Kassube had a great game scoring 25 points and pulling down 19 rebounds and Sammi Glines continues to "clean the glass" pulling down another 12 rebounds. Other stats included Christen Long with 13 points and 8 rebounds and Taalyr Egeness with 6 assists and 8 points. The Rebels, now 3-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play, travel to Royalton next Thursday and then are part of a boys-girls double-header in Battle Lake next Saturday. |
