Marcella C. Van Heel
Funeral services were held for Marcella C. Van Heel, age 84, of Long
Prairie, on Saturday, March 22 at St. Josephís Catholic Church in Clarissa
with Reverend David Maciej officiating. Marcella passed away surrounded by
family on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the Long Prairie Memorial Nursing
Home.
Marcella was born September 18, 1923 in Melrose to Frank and Anna
(Kroll) Huhne. She married Andrew J. Van Heel on June 4, 1945 in Sauk
Centre. After their marriage the couple moved to Fair Haven, where they
farmed for three years. In 1948 they moved to Clarissa where they farmed
until their retirement in 1979 at which time they moved to Long Prairie.
Marcella was a homemaker and enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening and spending
time with family.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; husband,
Andrew in 1979; five brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her children, Carol (John) Vedo of Anoka, Diane
(John) Martens of Long Prairie, Gene (Diane) Van Heel of Ham Lake, Duane
(Gina) Van Heel of New Brighton, Russell (Kathy) Van Heel of Clarissa; 16
grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Josh Vedo, Michael Vedo, Andrew Van Heel, Danny
Van Heel, Eric Nacey and Luke Martens.
Burial was in St. Maryís Cemetery in Long Prairie.
Harriet Elaine Fransen
Funeral services for Harriet Elaine Fransen, 82 of Eagle Bend, were held
on Thursday, March 20, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend with
Reverend Cordel Strug and Reverend Mary Carol Strug presiding. Harriet
passed away on Monday, March 17 at the Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.
Harriet was born on September 24, 1925 at Mudock to Ephraim
Chester and Hilda Eleanor ìNoraî (Skogland) Jordahl. She was united in
marriage with Clifford Ray Fransen on June 6, 1942 at a ministers home in
Staples. Together they lived in the Kerkhoven area until 1956 when they
moved to the Eagle Bend area. There they operated a dairy farm and raised
their family. Clifford passed away on February 21, 1986. After retiring in
1987, she returned to her education and was very proud to obtain her GED in
1988.
Harriet was an active member of the Faith Lutheran Church
Ladies Aid. She enjoyed reading and watching TV and also kept herself busy
with her many crocheting projects.
Harriet was preceded in death by her husband Clifford in
1986; her parents Eph and Nora Jordahl; son Ronald, who died in Vietnam in
1968; and brothers Harold Jordahl and Waldo Jordahl.
She is survived by her son James Michael (Barb) Fransen of
Hewitt; daughters Carol Ann (Wayne) Aspengren of Wadena, Linda Lee (Lowell)
Naley of Nisswa, Arlene (Lew) Nauman of Morton, Illinois; Mary Kay Fransen
of Hewitt and Judy (Bruce) Erdahl of Wadena; 9 grandchildren and 7
great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Delores Jordahl of Georgia.
Honorary pallbearers were Harrietís grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jim Fransen, Dick Oelrich, Lyle
Winter, Lowell Naley, Wayne Aspengren and Bruce Erdahl.
Interment was in the Zion Cemetery at Bertha.
