Sylvia Brousseau
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Sylvia Brousseau, 91, of Clarissa, on Wednesday, December 2, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’Äôs Catholic Church in Clarissa. Friends may call on the day of the service starting at 10 a.m. at the church. On Tuesday, December 1, Christian Mother’Äôs Rosary will be at 4:30 p.m. and Parish Prayers will be at 7 p.m., at Iten Funeral Home in Clarissa. Sylvia passed away on November 28 at the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa.
Sylvia was born on October 28, 1918 in Little Falls to Ulric and Minnie (Allord) Rocheleau.
She was a homemaker and a side-by-side business partner with Francis her whole life. Francis and Sylvia began their married life together farming by Little Falls until 1945. They moved to Westwood, California for two years where they were involved in the logging industry.
Their next move was to Eagle Bend where they owned and operated Brousseau Lumber Co. until retirement. Francis and Sylvia then moved to Alexandria where they spent the remainder of their married life together. Sylvia resided at CTCCC for 22 Months.
Sylvia loved her family and friends. She also enjoyed bowling, sewing, fishing, playing cards and especially dancing. Mom and Dad had the privilege of square dancing at the Inaugural Ball when Jimmy Carter became President.
Sylvia’Äôs life from baptism until after her marriage was at Holy Family Catholic in Bell Prairie.
Except for the time she lived in Alexandria and was a member of St. Mary’Äôs, from 1948 until the present, Sylvia was a member of St. Joseph’Äôs in Clarissa. She belonged to Christian Mothers and taught religion for 17 years. She loved her religion, especially saying the rosary.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Francis; infant son Ned; infant grandson Mark; infant great-grandson Stefan and sister Alice.
Sylvia is survived by five daughters: Janet (Dick) Schnettler of Clarissa, Judy (Dave) Hinzmann of Eagle Bend, Connie Brousseau of Edmonds, Washington, Beth (Barry) Baker- Brousseau of Long Beach, California, Mona (John) Chapman of Norwood, New York; brother Jeddy Rocheleau of Little Falls; and sisters Florence Tholen of Little Falls and Marie Bieganek of Sarasota, Florida; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at the parish cemetery.
