Helen Motschenbacher
Funeral mass for Helen Florence Motschenbacher, 79, Moorhead, was held on January 29, 2010 at the Church of Nativity in Fargo, North Dakota. Helen passed away on January 26, at Innovis Health in Fargo.
Helen was born December 10, 1930, to Frank and Margaret (Mountford) Zebley in Moorhead where she was raised and attended school.
On June 17, 1950, Helen married Ambrose C. Motschenbacher in Moorhead. Helen worked at the Blue Bird Cafˆ©, Moorhead, in advertising and delivery at the Red River Scene, Moorhead, in the production department at Silverline, and in food service at St. Ansgar's, St. John's, Dakota and McDonald's.
Helen was a member of the Moorhead American Legion and VFW auxiliary. She loved to play pull tabs and Bingo and work on crafts. She and Ambrose also enjoyed dancing and camping.
Ambrose died on April 13, 2007, and Helen continued to make her home in Moorhead. She became a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, two years ago.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and son, Bruce in 1993.
Helen is survived by two sons and a daughter, Stephen (Peggy) Motschenbacher, Fargo, North Dakota, Ted "Birdie" Motschenbacher, West Fargo, North Dakota, and Charlene Motschenbacher, Verndale; six grandchildren, Dave (Alissa) Motschenbacher, Amy (Chris) Gourde, Dan (Jill) Motschenbacher, Krystal (George) Heller, Amber Schul (fiancˆ©, Brent Philippy), and Tony Schul; nine great-grandchildren, Paige, Kaitlin, and Leona Heller, Chloe Philippy; Joseph and Nicholas Gourde; Gabriel, Margaret and Clara Motschenbacher, and one great-grandchild on the way; and three brothers, William "Bud" (Shirley) Zebley, Ridgecrest, California, Frank "Lolly" (Jeannine) Zebley Jr., Sabin, and Byron (Jeanene) Zebley, Fargo, North Dakota.
Internment was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
Shirley Rasmussen
Funeral services for Shirley Rasmussen, 79, of Browerville, were held on Friday, January 29, 2010, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Browerville with Pastor Nate Loer officiating. She passed away on January 26 at the Long Prairie Memorial Hospital. Shirley was born June 9, 1930, in Benton County, to Willard and Mabel (Crane) Scherbing. On August 23, 1956, she married Norman Rasmussen. They moved to Browerville in 1961. Shirley was a 4-H Leader for several years. She served as a board member for the Todd County Group Home for 18 years and was the Zion Lutheran Church Treasurer for 30 years. She enjoyed playing yahtzee, dominoes, reading, telling jokes and spending time with her family. Shirley was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Browerville.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Gordon, Loren and Dwight Scherbing; daughter Debra Host; and infant son Mark.
Shirley is survived by her husband Norman of Browerville; children: Rhonda (Peter) Boelter of Brainerd, Renae (Bill) Buhl of Browerville, brother Duane Scherbing of St. Cloud; grandchildren: Charity (Chris) Littler, Kaja Brix, Brittney (Karl) Koval, Laisha Buhl, Kaitlin Buhl, Miranda Buhl; and great-grandchildren, Gavin and Kaiden.
Interment was at the Minnesota State Veteran’Äôs Cemetery, Little Falls.
Wally Johnson
Former Clarissa resident Wally Johnson passed away on Sunday evening, January 31.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 4, at 11 a.m. at the American Lutheran Church in Long Prairie.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4-7 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Clarissa.
