The 39th Annual England Prairie Pioneer Days will be held this coming Friday, August 24 through Sunday, August 26 at their location on County Road 1 in rural Verndale.

In addition to the great food that is always available including Phyllis’ Famous Pancakes, there will be music and several displays with demonstrations for young and old to enjoy.

One of the highlights for many participants is the antique tractor pull which takes place on Saturday, August 25 starting at 11 a.m.

But if a tractor pull isn’t your idea of fun, there is so much more taking place including: threshing, sawmill and shingle mill demonstrations throughout the weekend, a kiddie’s coin hunt both Saturday and Sunday and more.

On Friday night from 7-9 p.m., the Stony Brook Band will perform. Just prior to that is the coronation of the 20th England Prairie Royalty.

The Wayne Renn Band will be performing on Saturday afternoon, as well, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.

A bit of a change from previous years, the parade will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday and  normal time—1 p.m.—on Sunday.

This year the club will feature harvesting equipment. All tractors and machinery are welcome for display.

A brand new event this year will be a working draft horses demonstration.

A new favorite for the kids is  birdhouse building on Saturday. You get to bring the birdhouse home with you when you’re done!

Sunday you can enjoy Bingo, demonstrations and the annual event concludes with the raffle prize drawings.

With so much to do and see, make England Prairie Pioneer Days a stop on your end of the summer schedule!
