An adventure in Costa Rica

    The combined Spanish classes of the Bertha-Hewitt and Verndale schools set out on a long-anticipated adventure on March 25—A trip that had been planned two years prior by their teacher, Amy Ashbaugh.

    Several fundraisers and much planning time later, this vision became a reality for the group of ten students who hoped to expand their knowledge of what they’d learned in the classroom and have a real-life experience in a Spanish-speaking country. Five students from Bertha-Hewitt and five from Verndale participated.

    They were bound for Costa Rica, a country made up of tropical coastal plains that rise to the mountains, active volcanoes, and a temperate central plateau, San José, where most people live.
