MSHSL approves fall sports to start September 28

Blaine Novak, president of the Minnesota State High School League’s Board of Directors, called for a special meeting of the League’s board for Monday, September 21, at 9 a.m.

The board voted to reinstate volleyball and football beginning September 28.

The volleyball season will last 11 weeks with 14 dual competitions. The first competition is slated for October 8.

Football will have a six-game regular season with the first game slated for October 9. Playoffs will happen over a two-week period at the end of the season.

The meeting was held in a virtual format.

“The Minnesota State High School League continues its work of providing the safest possible way for students to participate in all League activities and athletics for the 2020-2021 school year,” League Executive Director Erich Martens said.
