Sharol Mason of Verndale shared her life story, from childhood to retirement, highlighting and talking about overcoming her challenges.

She discussed how she started writing her book, Surviving Life And COVID-19, during the pandemic, which gave her more time to reflect on her life and reconnect with her seven siblings.

Mason retired in 2019 from the Wadena-Deer Creek School and began cleaning out her closest at home.

“I came across the old diaries and some magazines my mother had given us over the years. I’ve never really looked at them. So I started looking at them, and I thought, gee, you know, this is interesting stuff,” said Mason.

The pandemic hit in March 2020, canceling Mason’s travel plans and cleaning jobs, giving her more time on her hands. As reports of the pandemic flooded the news, Mason became more grounded and realized she had a story to tell....
