ATV accident results in fatality

    According to the Todd County Sheriff’s Office, on September 19, at 7:49 a.m., the sheriff’s office received a 911 emergency call of a man having been involved in an ATV accident at the address of 21438 County Road 36 in Long Prairie. 

    The Todd County Sheriff’s Office, the Long Prairie Fire and Rescue, Long Prairie Police Department and the Long Prairie Ambulance were dispatched to the scene and upon arrival Glenn Joseph Middendorf, 54, was taken to the Long Prairie Hospital.

    The accident was on private property and the ATV (4 wheeler) had been driven by Middendorf while he and his son attempted to herd a cow into the cowyard on the farm from the pasture. The ATV overturned, with Middendorf being injured. 

    No foul play is suspected in the accident. Middendorf was pronounced deceased at the Long Prairie Hospital some time later. Middendorf had succumbed to the injuries he sustained. The case remains under investigation pending an autopsy by the Mid West Medical Examiners Office.
