The University of Minnesota conducted a survey of food shelves in the state, including the Browerville Area Food Shelf. The results were given to Hunger Solutions Minnesota and SuperShelf. The survey was conducted to better understand the current needs of food shelf clients in the state.

The surveys were sent out in October to all food shelves in Minnesota that receive government funding.

The organizations received surveys from 4250 clients from 188 food shelves. Fifty-three percent were rural and 47 percent were urban food shelves.

They learned that statewide, clients wish to see healthier food options including meats, dairy, fruits and vegetables, eggs and cooking items such as spices and oils. The survey showed that 93 percent of people would like to provide more fruits and vegetables to their family. . . .
