A curious calf. The calves move to a barn when they are a little older. This is when they will start using an automatic feeder. The tag in their ear identifies them. The collar around their neck lets Lunemann and his crew know if the calf is eating properly among other things. The tag will stay with the calf throughout her life so they will have an ongoing record.
Farming is not for the faint of heart. This young “helper” was taking a nap after helping his parents—who work for Twin Eagle Dairy—with the calf feeding chores.

Desayuno en la Granja 2019—Twin Eagle Dairy: La agricultura no es para los débiles de corazón

La agricultura es un trabajo duro. No hay duda de eso. También puede ser un trabajo muy gratificante.
Pregúntele a Pat Lunemann, propietario de Twin Eagle Dairy al norte de Clarissa.
Este año, el evento anual Desayuno en la Granja del Condado de Todd se llevará a cabo en su lechería el 22 de junio y nuevamente se espera que sea un gran éxito.
Lunemann comenzó la instalación lechera en 1996 después de haber ordeñado vacas en un establo durante varios años.
“Las cosas son diferentes de lo que eran hace años”, dijo Lunemann.
Sin embargo, los conceptos básicos son los mismos. Tanto los terneros como las vacas necesitan ser alimentados y cuidados y las vacas necesitan ser ordeñadas.
Si bien algunos de los procesos para hacer estas cosas han cambiado a lo largo de los años, aún deben realizarse día tras día, sin importar si es 30° bajo cero o 90° arriba.
No ha cambiado mucho en Twin Eagle Dairy desde la última vez que organizaron Breakfast on the Farm en 2013, pero eso no significa que no habrá algo para todos en el evento de este año.
