Signed letters to the editor are welcomed every week, as part of the free exchange of ideas and opinions of our readers.

The address and telephone number of the writer must be included at the end of each letter for verification purposes. Upon publication, only the name and the city of the writer will be identified.

We reserve the right to edit letters due to length, spelling and punctuation errors and libel problems.

We reserve the right to reject letters based on libel or other legal matters.

We reserve the right to limit writers to one letter every 30 days.

We reserve the right to hold letters until the next edition due to a lack of space.

We reserve the right not to publish letters after both sides of an issue have been voiced.

Letters to the editor do not necessarily reflect the opinions of this newspaper.

Letters to the editor are for opinions, not for thank yous.

When writing letters to the editor stick to an issue, not a person; keep your remarks to the point; and be insightful, but please be respectful.

~ Political Letters to the Editor ~
Letters to the editor that are political in nature, state an opinion for or against a political candidate or any letter by a candidate running for office are considered advertising.
There is a $45 charge for letters containing 300 words or less and 20¢ a word after that.
Letters containing controversial issues will not be published two weeks prior to the primary or general election.
