The rising waters washed out a small section of 131st Avenue in rural Verndale on March 28.
“The water flows over the road every year. It’s rare that it leaves trenches like it did,” said Wadena Township Supervisor Nate Witthuhn.
He repaired the road that evening and it was reopened.
A culvert also washed out in the township on 110th Street, off of Highway 71. A gaping hole appeared and was nearly the width of the road and several feet wide, making the road impassable to motorists.
It is uncertain how long the section of road will remain closed at this time. . . .
