IT’S TIME TO BE A LOSER

Every year at this time we host the Be A Loser With Karin contest.

If you are not familiar with it,  the contest was started nine years ago with the idea that we could hold such a contest and offer prizes to our top three winners.

We were excited about the prospect of this contest and have seen over one hundred different contestants working to better themselves through losing weight, healthier lifestyles and better eating.
It’s been a great experience for all of us at the newspaper. We enjoy being able to help others along their journey to bettering themselves.

It has been a special time each year for me as I work to improve my health and employ healthier eating.
As a reminder, we are starting the contest on Thursday, February 23. The initial weigh-in will be at the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church on Highway 71 in Clarissa.

If you are interested in joining me this year, please make sure you are at the first weigh-in. I will be putting information on the inhnews.com website this week, including the rules, the application and more. Just click on the Be A Loser link!

The hours of the weigh-in on the 23rd are from 4:30-5:45 p.m.

The cost is a low $30 which includes a free T-shirt and a three month subscription to the Independent News Herald.

The top three winners receive cash and prize rewards valued at $100, $200 & $400.

You can check out Karin’s “Fat Chat” daily blog for updates and encouragement.

As in the past, the weight loss percentage is calculated to determine winners.

There are four mandatory weigh-in dates. Those include the first and last weigh-ins. The final weigh-in is on Thursday, May 18, at Shepherd of the Valley Church in Clarissa to determine the winner.

Don’t wait until tomorrow or next week or next month or next year to start losing weight. Start this February 23 and maybe you will be one of our top losers and earn some “dough” that won’t go right to your stomach!
