“It all started in 2001. I wanted to help a couple of friends with some training they needed to do to get ready for Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth. For practice, they ran a half-marathon, starting in Long Prairie to my home in Clotho. With the assistance of my daughter and a friend; a snack, water, and some kind words were given to the runners in route to the finish line!  Upon completion, I served them some lemonade, spaghetti, and a heap of encouragement for the up-coming Grandma’s race!” said Marla Schnell of Clotho.

“After running Grandma’s, they came to me with an idea—to organize a fundraiser that would help carry out my passion for helping children less fortunate.  And so, ‘Mama Marla’s Hike It Or Bike It’ began to take shape!
