Samuel Moore was the returning state champion for the shot put. Last year Moore took first place with a throw of 59' 11.75". Moore was in second place going into the final throw of the event. With the state championship on the line, and an impressive throw of 61 feet to beat, Moore stepped up and delivered a crowd stunning throw of 62'3.50" to take the 1st place title!

Brett Jansen and Samuel Moore of the BHV Raiders Boys’ Track team competed at the State Track Tournament on June 8 and 9. Jansen qualified for the 400 M run by placing second at the Section meet held at Minnewaska on May 31.
On Friday, he ran in the preliminaries, running a personal best time of 50.48 and qualifying for the finals held Saturday. He ran the 400 M in 51.74 sec in the finals, placing eighth. This was Jansen’s second appearance at State.
Coach Moore commented, “I found it good to work with an athlete like Brett. He put forth good effort, provided strong competition at meets. . . .
