To honor and raise funds for cancer research, the annual Tackle Cancer event was held last week, culminating on Friday night during the varsity football game.
Although the evening became a wet one with the rain that passed through the area, approximately $500 was raised through a combination of raffle ticket sales, Tackle Cancer items sold and freewill donations throughout the week. Proceeds will be sent to the Randy Shaver Tackle Cancer Foundation.
At half-time, multi-colored balloons which represented all types of cancer were released in honor of those affected by the disease.
As a result of schools holding these events, last year over $281,000 was raised for Minnesota’s cancer community!
