A fire destroyed the barn at the Paul and Janet Asfeld farm last Thursday night. They caught the blaze in time to get all of the cattle out of the barn, but they lost all of their feed from the first cutting of hay. A storm swept through the area. The Asfelds heard a loud crack of thunder, but when they looked out the window they didn’t see anything unusual. They were on their way to bed when Janet saw the fire from the kitchen window. The flames were shooting out around the power lines connected to the barn.

The Clarissa Flyers split a pair of ball games this past week with a win over New York Mills Wednesday and a loss to Perham on Sunday. Nick Holmquist got his first HI-10 win as he pitched a complete game, giving up only two runs early in the contest. Good pitching and solid defense was the difference for the Flyers. Paul Ostrowski collected three hits and four RBIs to lead an otherwise weak hitting attack.
