News from Bertha and Hewitt's Past

Bertha’s city clerk was suspended Monday night after an audit showed roughly $20,000 “unaccounted for.” The missing funds came from a variety of revenue sources, primarily the liquor store. Store sales were being prepared as deposits, but simply weren’t making it to the bank. The city council announced the suspension with pay of clerk Dan Hagenson for “incompetence” during the regular meeting of the board. No criminal charges have been filed.
