25 Years Ago

September 20, 1995

Nine members of the Women’s Club and three guests met on September 11 at the home of Laura Foster with Vice President Laura presiding. Inez Boehland read the inspirational “What Does America Owe You?” by Garrison Keillor. God Bless America and School Days were sung. The roll call was answered with “Something I always wanted to do and never had the opportunity.”

The Bertha-Hewitt Bears increased their conference record to 2-0 and their overall record 3-0 as they played the New York Mills Eagles on Friday night. In the second half, the Bears took an opening kickoff and marched 58 yards in nine plays, consuming over six minutes of the clock. It resulted in a touchdown by Corey Hennagir. It was his second touchdown of the night. Quarterback Shawn Kuhnke found tight-end Paul Davis in the end zone for the two-point conversion that put the Bears up 14-0.


75 Years Ago

September 13, 1945

Pvt. Arthur Beilke, who has served over 30 months overseas with the armed forces, arrived home Saturday to spend a 30-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Beilke.
