The New Year, 1970, offers the prospect of being a much more profitable year for people of the Eagle Bend community because of there being one less wolf to be kept away from anyone’s door. The wolf, which was eliminated, was shot on Saturday afternoon, December 27, by Ricky Stueve a short distance south of the Village of Eagle Bend. The animal was an adult brush wolf weighing between 40-45 pounds.
Last week on Christmas Day was our 50th anniversary day. And my dear wife was my Christmas present fifty years ago... We were both brought up on a farm and we farmed eight years after we were married. We had from ten to fourteen cows to milk; and my wife always helped milk the cows. And sometimes while I worked late in the field she would have all the cows milked when I got home. She was a better and faster milker than I was...May the good Lord bless you, guide you, and protect and fare for you as you travel the new highway of 1970. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Johnson.
