Eagle Bend started the Independence Day holiday early with a spectacular fireworks display Saturday night. The event capped the community’s weekend summer festival.
The Eagle Bend summer festival, Come Alive in ‘95, was celebrated this past weekend. Eloise Clementson and Andy Eberle were honored as the outstanding senior citizens. Grand Marshals were Frank and Dorine Firkus. Creative Floors won the “best theme” category for their float. Arlen Johnson was the winner of the medallion hunt after three days of clues. Senior Nutrition King Carl Williams and Queen Pinky Christianson were honored.

July 2, 1970
Grand champion purebred of the annual Lake Region Dairy Day 4-H and FFA cattle show held at Alexandria was a two-year-old Holstein shown by Bruce Eckel. Other honors included reserve champion of the Holstein breed and winner of the Minnesota State Holstein award. Bruce is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Eckel of Eagle Bend.
The Minnesota Association of Milking Shorthorn Society held their annual picnic on Sunday at LeCentre. One of the highlights of the day was the selection of the first state princess of the association. Winning the crown and title of princess was Miss Dianne Krause of Eagle Bend. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Krause, local breeders of Milking Shorthorns.
