Long Prairie Senior Center Site Manager Jodi Dixon is pleased with how the kitchen turned out. She had received her safe food handling certificate and the kitchen has met state standards and been licensed so they can cook and serve food from there.

Meals on Wheels is a great program offered in Todd County.

The only thing is, it doesn’t deliver lunches on Thursdays in Long Prairie because the program delivers evening meals on that day.

Jodi Dixon, who is the site manager at the Long Prairie Senior Center, has been working on getting their kitchen licensed for about two and a half years so that she can make and serve meals on Thursdays to fill the gap.

Cooking is right up Dixon’s alley. She used to own a restaurant in Forest Lake.

“There is a strong need for this. It will be open for the whole community,” said Dixon of the endeavor which will begin October 31.

The homemade meals will be served on Thursdays from noon until 1:30 p.m. or while supplies last.

Dixon encourages everyone to come in early and stay late for fellowship, games and other fun activities to share with friends. . . .
