Verndale City Council: Second round for COVID-19 relief funds open

by Trinity Gruenberg

The Verndale City Council held its regular meeting on October 12.

Tri-County Health Care Conduit Financing

Tri-County Health Care (TCHC) is looking to get their new hospital building project back on track. Verndale had previously approved the conduit financing, but it lapsed after a year and TCHC has to restart the process and get a replacement resolution.

They hope to begin the building project next year. They will also approach Wadena, Bertha, and Deer Creek to assist with conduit financing. There is no liability to the cities.

The council approved the preliminary resolution, with Council Member Tara Erckenbrack abstaining. They should expect formal paperwork in January. TCHC is expecting $10,000,000 in bonds to be issued.

Liquor Store

City Clerk and Liquor Store Manager Melissa Current shared there was a net loss of $4989 for the month. There was a decrease in sales over the last year in the amount of $8052. . .
