Verndale School sees first COVID-19 case

by Trinity Gruenberg

Parents were notified on Thursday evening, September 17, that an individual in the high school community had tested positive for COVID-19.

The Verndale School administration was notified by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) about the positive case.

“They walked us through the entire process which was very nice,” said Superintendent Paul Brownlow.

The MDH conducted contact tracing for those in close contact with the individual due to potential exposure.

Close contact is defined by being within six feet of the individual for 15 accumulative minutes or more throughout the day. That is with or without a mask. Passing times in the halls does not count toward those minutes.

The individual’s class may not have to be quarantined. That is dependent on what MDH finds out about the close contacts and if they may need to be quarantined individually. . .
