This year’s Prairie Days in Long Prairie promises a fun time with some new events added to spice up your enjoyment in addition to the favorite events like kids games, MT Bucking Bulls Show and a car show.

This year’s festivities take place from Friday, June 15 through Sunday, June 17.

One of the new attractions this year is Chalk Artist Abraham Burciaga. He will begin working on his massive 3x6 meter (9.8425x19.6850 feet) chalk art project on Thursday, June 14 and work on it through Saturday, June 16. On Friday, June 15 at 1 p.m. he will have a presentation at the Long Prairie Branch of the Great River Regional Library.

Some other new additions to this year’s festivities will be a mechanical bucking bull, a Folklorica Dance Group who will perform during the talent show on Saturday and a Palau woman who will have an informational booth and video in the Hart Mall. There will be other culturally diverse presentations throughout the event.

Back again this year is the Bald Eagle Ski Team Exhibition at Lake Charlotte on Sunday.

According to the Long Prairie Chamber Executive Director Luan Thomas-Brunkhorst, they were able to receive grant funding for some of the events this year because of the diversity in the attractions.

(See last week’s Independent News Herald or go to the Chamber website at: www.longprairie.org for a full schedule of events.)
