A Matter of Perspective

I could have written a book...

There was so much discussion during the last Todd County Board of Commissioner’s meeting related to the Expo building and whether or not hockey should be able to continue using the building, that I believe I could have at least had a good start on a book.

I did not include all of the discussion in my story. I could have, but the bottom line was that the commissioners voted 3-2 to allow the hockey association’s continued use of the building.

I could have told you about the tears and the hockey children who asked the commissioners to consider their plea. I could have told you about the concerned citizens who expressed their desire to not raise taxes.

I could have told you many things that were said at the meeting. But I wanted you to be able to read the story in one sitting. I wanted you to get the basic understanding of the events. I believe that is what I did in the article I wrote this week from the commissioner’s meeting.

So, yes, I could have written a book, but I wrote a short story instead. As I mentioned in my article, if you are very interested in hearing the entire discussion, you may contact the county auditor/treasurer’s office and request a recording for which there is a charge.

• Our Be A Loser With Karin contest is quickly approaching. If you have any questions, please call our office and we will do our best to get you answers.

• There seems to have been a bit of confusion about the post office article and using your post office box number for your mailing address if you live in town. I will reiterate: you may use your street address in the first address line (on forms) and put your P.O. Box as the second line.

From experience, I know that some places that I have ordered from online will not ship to a P.O. Box. In fact, they will not even accept the address if I put the P.O. Box in the second address line. In a case like this, just use your street address as you have no other option. But most of the time, you will be able to put in your P.O. Box and should do so.

• I just had a Continuous Glucose Monitor inserted into my left upper arm. Should you be behind me and see a “lumpy” looking spot in my shirt sleeve, please refrain from trying to “fix” it or remove it. It is a needle stuck in my arm with a computer chip in it that tests my blood sugar every five minutes or so.

This is intended to help me gain greater control over type 2 diabetes by giving a really accurate overview of my blood sugars over the course of a two week period. I will be able to get a good look at my blood sugar throughout the day and the night to see when I have spikes or lows. I’ll be able to see what works and what doesn’t.
