A helping hand is always appreciated!

by Trinity Gruenberg

The sound of drills and saws was heard the morning of June 10 on Clark Street in Verndale. Several veterans were lending a helping hand to a fellow veteran who had a deck in need of repair.

Homeowner Terry Neely was looking for some assistance in finishing his deck repairs. Someone had mentioned to him to contact the American Legion as he is a member.

He reached out to the state office and they connected with the William Larson Bertha American Legion Post. That set things in motion and Neely’s fellow comrades from the Bertha Legion reached out to offer their help.

Neely had replaced half of the deck himself before encountering health issues that prevented him from finishing the project. . .
