Address blade changes could solve problems

Updated: Dec 5, 2019

Did you know there are 10,285 address blades (signs) and street signs in Todd County?

That is a lot of addresses with fire numbers/911 signs/address signs or whatever you happen to call them.

The bottom line is there are a lot of signs helping us find where businesses are or where people live.

Inspection of these signs takes place every two years. They are inspected for damage, if they are missing and for correct placement based on established standards. Signs found with issues or missing are replaced, repaired or relocated.

New signs are also installed as requests come in.

The current 911 address signs were initially installed in 1999, 2001 and 2002.

The current size is 7” x 24” and they are vertical (up and down).

According to GIS Specialist Doug Thom, when it all began the repairs and replacement blades were done through GIS with white reflective numbers placed on blue EC film. . . .
