Boxing is an Umland family affair
by Trinity Gruenberg
The Umland family of Verndale has made boxing a family affair.
Jeremy Umland has been boxing and participating in MMA for several years with over 300 fights to his name. He participated in title fight matches in Las Vegas at the peak of his career and has been a boxing coach for the past 16 years. He is the Region 4 Silver Gloves director for Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
He is also one of 25 coaches in the country to hold a bronze coaching certification which allows him to coach those going into an Olympic training center and at national tournaments. He was picked by USA Boxing for the certification. He is also a level two certified official.
Jeremy took over coaching Golden Gloves in Wadena with Cody McManigle when Bob Tubandt retired five years ago. Jeremy combined the Wadena team with his gym and started Central Minnesota Boxing with their gym located in Wadena. . .
