Feeding the 5000 and then some . . .Eagle Bend United Methodists take on daunting task

When Jesus performed the miracle of feeding the 5000 as chronicled in the book of Matthew 14:13-33, it showed us at least two important lessons.

1. The miracle of feeding the 5000 men, plus women and children (so well over 5000) was because of Jesus’ compassion—he didn’t want people to go away hungry.

2. The second part which might not always be so obvious was to teach his disciples a lesson about compassion and about believing that Jesus could do what he said he could even with five small loaves of bread and two fish!

Think about it. It really is mind-blowing.

Well, the people of the Eagle Bend United Methodist Communities of Faith Church thought about this story and they decided that they would take on the daunting task of feeding the 5000 as part of their community outreach.

They began a free soup and sandwich meal one time a month on the third Tuesday of the month....
