The Clarissa Independent 25 Years Ago April 5, 1995 Deputy Pete Mikkelson, DARE instructor at the Eagle Valley Elementary School, arranged for a visit from the Army National Guard Helicopter as part of the DARE education program. The crew explained their jobs, their gear and the importance of being clear headed. ********** Eagle Valley Boy Scouts were pictured with their aluminum can recycling container which is located next to the DAC recycling bins in the Clarissa Liquor Store parking lot. The boys are Adam Ruter, Mark Yates, Eric Marquedant, Greg Holmquist, Andy Van Heel and Scout Master Dennis Cuchna.
50 Years Ago April 2, 1970 John Pachan was elected to the board of directors of the Eagle Valley Telephone Co. at its annal meeting last Saturday morning. Einar Olson, director, was reelected to the board for another three year term. ********** Last Tuesday, voters of the Eagle Bend School District voted overwhelmingly 437 to 101 to turn down the consolidation with the Clarissa District. In Clarissa no referendum was asked for after the board had okayed the consolidation.
