The Clarissa Independent 25 Years Ago May 3, 1995 The Eagle Valley kindergarten through third graders presented “Goin’ Buggy” for their spring program. All the cute little bugs participated in the program with the Bug’s Bill of Rights. Christine Ahrens was a soloist for “That’s No Way to Treat a Ladybug.” Emily Hudalla, Amanda Crider and Philip Birk were featured soloists during “Grandma’s Feather Bed.” Dave Hairsine on banjo, and Kim Maland on guitar, accompanied the fourth through sixth graders’ “Westward Ho” program. ********** Last week we golfed in three meets. On Tuesday we traveled to Pine Ridge Golf Course and played a junior/varsity meet with Staples-Motley JV who had a 188 while we scored 193. Those who scored for the Rebels were Jason Bain 41, first overall Mike Lennes 51; and Grant Hest 54. Others competing were Jon Baso, Jeremy Voge, Brent Line and Mike Aspengren.
50 Years Ago April 30, 1970 The Clarissa Lions Club elected officers and made plans for the future at the annual meeting of the organization on April 22 at the Legion Hall. Superintendent Herbert Wolff was again named president; Otto Kamrud, secretary; John Bergs, treasurer; Ken Pesta, tail twister; and Ivan Pesta, lion tamer. ********** The Western Bohemian Fraternal Association delegates held their district meeting on Sunday, April 26, at the Clarissa Legion Hall. Present officers of district III include the following: Glenn Jedlicka, president; and Glenn Kotval of Eagle Bend, secretary.
