25 Years Ago

May 17, 1995

Area police chiefs, DeWayne Hulke from Clarissa, Jim Minion from Eagle Bend and Corey Heid from Browerville, along with Sheriff Dave Kircher fingerprinted children at the Eagle Valley Elementary School and the Browerville School last week. The fingerprinting is done every other year for students who have parental permission and a copy of the fingerprints is given to the parents to keep at home.

We have been busy the last couple of weeks with conference meets at Osakis, Henning, Eagle Valley and Tipsinah Mounds by Elbow lake for golf. At Osakis we finished fourth as a team with a four-man total of 192 for nine holes. Scoring for the Rebels were Jason Bain, 46, Mike Lennes, 48, Jeremy Voge, 48, Brent line, 50, and Jason Lennes, 50. Others golfing were Mike Aspengren, 53, and Jon Baso, 63.

50 Years Ago

May 14, 1970

Pfc. Roger E. Holler, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Holler of Long Prairie, formerly of Clarissa, lost his life in the Cambodian invasion on Tuesday, May 5. His parents have been informed.

Dean D. Bennett will be Clarissa’s industrial art teacher next year as the result of a contract signed last Monday evening at the regular meeting of the Board of Education. He replaces Warren Krause who resigned.
