Hewitt United Methodist Church now has a public library
by Trinity Gruenberg
A project, a year in the making, has finally come to fruition. Area residents may now visit a public library located in Hewitt.
The idea for the library originated from Karen Ziemkowski. She had visited a church in Verndale and noticed they had a little library. Thinking it was a neat idea, she wished to open one in Hewitt for residents of the surrounding communities.
With the blessing of the church congregation and Pastor Ken Uhren, they cleared out a storage room in their new addition and began the conversion to make it a small public library.
“We just wanted to have a place for people to come and check out books,” said Ziemkowski. . .
