In Focus

I like to play video games. And what better time to play them than now, since we have been told to stay home through May. I have been waiting for a long time for the release of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake since it was announced several years ago. I am a huge fan of the original game that was released in 1997. The game came with three discs for the original PlayStation. You can put a lot of time into the game, play it for hours, easily over 100 hours. It was amazing. And the graphics, at that time, were top notch. It was so popular that prequel and sequel games were made, even a movie. It’s a game you can play over and over. I was first introduced to it in college. The first time I played it I ended up skipping a week of classes. I played all day and night with naps and food breaks in between. I became obsessed with it and couldn’t wait to see what happened next. Fans have been asking for a remake of the original for years, and finally had their prayers answered. I couldn’t wait to purchase it... Friday morning the game was released. I picked it up and started playing. The opening sequence was the same as the original, just better. It gave me chills. I spent three days playing the game, knowing what would happen. I barely slept and on Sunday I didn’t realize until 9 p.m. all I had eaten that day was a Poptart and few pieces of candy. I was just too excited to be hungry. This remake added so much more to the game. Not just in the graphics, but expanded the story line, gave more of a back story to some of the characters, and some iconic scenes were done with more than the original scene, and from different perspectives as well. I enjoyed every minute of it. The only issue I had was this is just the first disc. They are doing an episodic release of the remake. I don’t know when the second disc will be released, and I hope it doesn’t take another couple of years! I may have finished it, but there is more to do and I will be going through it again. I will probably be playing the original again, as well. It’s nice to escape reality and it is a good way to pass my “stay at home” time.
