75 Years Ago April 5, 1945 Word has been received that Lt. Sylvester Dittbenner has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross Metal, which is among the highest honors bestowed upon a man in the service. Lt. Dittbenner is a prisoner of war in Germany. ********** Due to the fact that two of the Bertha High School prominent cheerleaders will graduate, an election of new cheerleaders will be held for next year. Five will be elected, three of whom will be selected as junior cheerleaders. Eleven candidates have filed for try-outs. They are: Carol Hartung, JoAnn Maine, Maxine Heuer, Jean Harlow, Kathryn Bottemiller, Patty Cameron, Phyllis Bluhm, Delores Steiner, Rosella Bauer, Avis Haase and Marlys Bauer.
