25 Years Ago May 3, 1995 Army Major Catherine M. Blashack has arrived for duty in Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas. Blashack, a logistics automation systems support officer, is the daughter of Dorothy L. Blashack of Rural Route 1, Bertha. ********** The Hewitt Fire Department recently received a $500 check from the Lutheran Trinity AAL Branch 1484. The AAL recently raised $1710 at a charitable event. 75 Years Ago May 3, 1945 Mr. and Mrs. Dick Sagehorn received word last Sunday from their son, Armand, that he had been liberated from the German prison camp in which he had been interned since last December. He is now hospitalized in England. In his letter to his parents he said the American boys in the prison camp were “a happy bunch when they saw those G.I.s coming in.” ********** Mary Jane Bottemiller, a student at Macalester College in St. Paul is a member of the 100 voice choir of Macalester which recently presented a musical tribute to the late President Roosevelt on the National Network of the Mutual Broadcasting System. The choir is directed by Professor Hollis Johnson.
