25 Years Ago April 6, 1995 Seven candidates vied for three crowns at the Todd County American Dairy Association coronation held on Saturday at the Staples-Motley High School. The three candidates are: Tammy Becker, daughter of Dan and Barb Becker of Browerville; Becky Hinkle, daughter of Joe and Diane Hinkle of Aldrich; and Becky Ward, daughter of Bill and Mary Ward of Bertha; alternate is Meri Bromeling, daughter of Robert and Karen Bromeling of Browerville. ********** Eight members of the Browerville FFA chapter participated in regional contests at Little Falls on March 29. Browerville placed first out of seven poultry teams for the third consecutive year. Team members were Meri Bromeling, who was the second highest scoring individual in the contest; Scott Biel, who was the highest overall; Sherry Landowski, who was fourth overall; and Shannon Landowski.
75 Years Ago April 7, 1945 Following an Easter vacation of more than a week, Browerville Schools resumed classes on Tuesday of this week. ********** Leo Steinmetz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Steinmetz, and William Zigan, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Zigan of Hartford, received a call on Thursday morning to report for military duty at the Minneapolis Navy Station on Wednesday of next week. The boys were sworn in just seven weeks ago on February 15.
