25 Years Ago May 4, 1995 Tessa Johnston of Browerville won an “Honorable Mention” in the Minnesota Junior Duck Stamp Contest. The Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge held the judging of Minnesota’s Second Junior Duck Stamp Contest on April 19. There were 510 entries from 64 schools. ********** The Tigers softball team defeated Royalton 6-2 at home. Jerene Carlson pitched all seven innings, giving up five walks, six hits, two runs and three strike outs. Leading hitters were Missy Spandl with two hits and two RBIs, Elizabeth LaVoie with two hits and two RBIs and Sara Brown with one hit.

50 Years Ago May 7, 1970 Nic Dressen, Alan Metz and Bob Tichy are currently members of the Bemidji State College Beaver Spring Training squad. ********** The Browerville High School received six superior ratings at the state regional solo and ensemble contest held in Wadena. Those receiving superiors were: Linda Heid, coronet solo; Jean Sobota, French horn; Cathy Ulick, clarinet; Steve Hiebert, tuba; Janet Tschida, soprano solo; and flute trio of Sue Jordahl, Brenda Myman and Marie Ostrowski.
