Doctor David Freeman of Staples was honored recently by colleagues and patients who nominated him for the 1995 Minnesota Family Physician of the Year award. Dr. Freeman was one of four finalists, according to the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Freeman, who has practiced at Staples for seven years, also visits about once a week with patients in Browerville, Eagle Bend and at the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa.
Browerville athlete Scott Bentz and Coach Kim Porwoll are representing the school and community well at the Special Olympics World Games in New Haven, Connecticut. So far Scott has received a Bronze Medal in the running long jump. He also earned fifth place in the high jump and eighth place in the 100 meter dash
Tina Lucas, daughter of Walt and Kathy Lucas of Browerville, took part in the Lake Country Gardens 6K race on Lake Ottertail on July 1. Her time was 35 minutes and 55 seconds, placing her first in the 15 and under age group.
A conditional use permit to construct six turkey finishing barns in Eagle Valley Township was granted to Toddco Turkey’s at the July meeting of the Todd County Commissioners. The new barns will be able to hold 60,000 birds.
