The Todd County Commissioners agreed to pay an additional $1.50 per ton in garbage tipping fees to Otter Tail County for a six-month interim period. The total cost to the county will be about $5000. This decision was reached after the board learned that Hubbard County will be leaving the eight-county joint powers group which supports the Fergus Falls and Perham incinerators.

The Board of Education has set September 16 as the opening day of school. This date supplants the original date of September 3. The new opening date is based on the recommendation of the Todd County Medical Society which convened in Browerville on August 29. This seems doubly important since the number of polio cases reported lately indicates that the peak of the epidemic probably has not been reached in rural areas.

On Main Street in Browerville tonight in front of the Farmer’s Cooperative Creamery, beginning at 9 p.m., a group of entertainers from the Long Prairie American Legion Post will give a free home talent skit.
